Extremely disappointed:( They get a 2 because the atmosphere is nice, it's clean, and the service was good but the food is pretty bad diner quality. The salmon runs out in 2 seconds so if you see it dart. Maybe they would put out a larger platter?!? Uh no. that goes for many items on the buffet. There was zero flavor to the bacon, they sugared the mixed berries (why?), everything totally mediocre and not worth the price. I would gladly pay more for better food. Even though we have a 50$ food credit for breakfast tomorrow I'm thinking about going elsewhere. My husband did like his made to order omelette so maybe if we do stay at hotel in am I will just eat that!

Great meal with excellent service. The menu is fairly simple, but it was a great place for a business dinner within the Ritz Carlton hotel.

Horrible, horrible, horrible! I am shocked at how bad this experience was. We are not a hard to please family but when dining with 2 kids and waiting 20 min to get water, another 10 to have our order taken, and another hour later and not even a starter? We left after 90 minutes - the place was a complete disaster. People just staring at each other wondering what's gone wrong. Hopefully it was just a spring break "blip" in service - not exactly "ritz carlton" style! Proceed with caution - if at all.

How do you get a 1 star restaurant in a 4-5 star hotel? Well, it has been done! Breakfast- This would rate a 4 star. Our group had breakfast two days in a row, both time thing were timely, everything from eggs to bacon to French Toast, etc., was all cooked to order, with great coffee! Well, how in the heck do you rate a 1 star? Folks, this place should be a no star. LUNCH! First, nothing is cheap. OK, your at the Ritz so you expect that but you also expect good fare correct? Round 1: Lunch with wife. I had a fish special sandwich, it was OK, but nothing to write home about and nowhere the quality for the price, and when you get 4, yes 4 potato chips?? Now, here is the best. Wife gets the salad with shrimp. Eating the salad there is a slight tang. Maybe it is the vinegar based dressing, nope, it is the "fully" rotten tomato's in the salad! One is so rotten the meat in the tomato is black and runny. You call waitstaff over and the response. "Well! I can get some other tomato's if you want them" What! Oh, then be ignored until you have to ask for the check and then have the rotten tomato meal charged, oh yes! with another $7.00 charge for the shrimp! Wife is done, she will not be back and either will I until........ Round 2: Lunch with Boss. Convention is out and boss wants me and my managers for a lunch to discuss some items. I again, play is safe and get the fish special. Again, same as round 1. Boss gets salad, but with chicken. I cringe thinking here comes the rotten tomato again! Boss is eating his salad, all good, eats over half of the rabbit food then decides to dive into his juicy chicken breast. Takes fork, pulls sliced, juicy breast apart with fork and yummy. Nice RAW and BLOODY chicken all in his salad. I asked if he was going to be venturing far away from a bathroom during the day. We called waiter over and showed him the situation, he took the salad back, offered another, boss stated NO Thanks! Then we received bill with yes, a full charge for the salad. Not this time! One of my managers called the waiter over and pointed it out. This waiter kindly removed the charge. In short, rotten tomato and raw chicken. Return? You must be nuts!

I think not. The food is unimaginative and unappealing. For breakfast...the fruit is fairly decent, everything else isn't. I got brioche too and it was greasy. (The jam contained sugar, corn syrup, and high fructose corn syrup. Surely just sugar would suffice....) I had bacon & pancakes a different day. The bacon was dry and salty and flavorless. The pancakes were overly sweet as was the syrup, which wasn't actual syrup. At dinner I had a caesar salad which was not good at all. And none of the entrees appealed to me so I ordered pasta and tomato sauce. The tomato sauce tasted like ketchup and sugar. What an abomination.

I stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island for work, and my company has set it up that I have to always eat at 4750 for my meals to be paid for. It's upsetting when you don't like a place and you have to keep eating there. With that said, let's begin. This is some of the slowest service I have ever encountered. Don't get me wrong, the staff is very friendly, but when I run in there between work to grab a bite so I can rush off again, it is painful to have to sit around and wait endlessly for a drink, for the food, for the check, etc. We have event tried to pre-order our food so we can get it faster and it still took a half hour for the entree... The food is good. Since we're right on the water, I usually go for some sort of seafood, because I can assume that I will be getting very fresh, high-quality food, and I do for the most part. And I know this is an expensive resort but I just would never justify the prices for the food that is received. Overall, I can't really say anything great about the place and I would never recommend it. I hope for the hotels sake, the other restaurants are better in the resort

Ate here one morning while staying at the Ritz. Wasn't going to eat here but the hostess mentioned the chef made eggs benedict, waffle and omlet station that comes with the breakfast buffet. I'm a huge eggs benedict fan so we opted to eat here. Eggs benedict was the first thing I got and when I cut in with a nice high end knife, I literally could not cut through the english muffin. Thought it was a fluke but when I attempted to cut through the second one, the same thing! A restaurant at the Ritz should not have this bad quality of food. I'm giving this place 2 starts simply because the service was excellent and the place was very clean. The food though was literally one star. We chose to eat off site the next morning because of this. If you're feeling lazy and don't want to go off property, you should go here simply because of the convenience. If you're looking for an excellent breakfast, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Inside the ritz so the service was amazing, but the food was hit or miss. My breakfast bagel with eggs was awesome, my wife's salmon dinner was a bit bland, soup was really good. We're going back for the buffet this morning for the convenience of staying in the hotel and I expect that it will be good. Also - because it's in the ritz it's not cheap... But that also is as expected. Overall - it meets expectations for the hotel's cafe.

This is difficult to review. My wife and I had a taste for a good old cheeseburger, which they did not have on the menu. But, they were happy to make ones for us. Nice! We didn't really try much else so it is difficult to provide useful information beyond the Ritz-Carlton standard of excellence when it comes to service. For that I give them 5 stars.

I only speaking from a breakfast buffet perspective but it was good. Hate to say it but I ate the biscuits and gravy (come on how do you resist?) and they where as good as I've ever had. They have just about everything in the morning buffet and I cannot say I had anything that was average. The price was reasonable for being on the Ritz-Carlton property.

This is an expensive cafe by most standards, but you're at the Ritz, so what do you expect? I came here for breakfast both mornings of my stay. The buffet is the best deal as everything on the a la carte can be found at the buffet (minus the French toast, but they'll make it for you at no extra cost if you ask), and the price includes juice and coffee/tea. The made to order omelets were awesome (you can also request scrambles, eggs benedict or fried eggs). I loved the fresh biscuits with the sausage gravy (great rosemary flavor in the gravy). But the winner of the buffet was the sticky rolls which had tons of sticky sweet pecans. Add some fresh berries to cut the sweetness, and that's a little bit of heaven. Service was generally good, and if the weather is nice, you should sit outside.

Family and I were disappointed in dinner last night. The scallop app was way over priced for what we got. Everything was pretty blah for the price. The mahi was on special and was the best thing we had. For the prices there are much better places on the island.

For a hotel restaurant that is basically the coffee shop for the property it was fine. And all servers very polite . I had the Cobb salad and everything was fresh heirloom tomatoes were very good and favorable.

Cafe 4750 is fantastic. The staff is really nice. I had the Classic Eggs Benedict with Mimosa's...they were delicious. The hollandaise sauce was on point and plentiful. I love that there was just the right amount of food...not too much and not to little.

It's ok. I mean what do you expect from a restaurant inside a fancy schmancy hotel? expensive: check nice waitstaff: check nice atmosphere/seating: check great tasting food: eh why only 3 stars? well, because if I'm going to pay that much for a meal, the meal should be at least great to exceptional. my husband got the roastbeef sandwich... it was really just ok. kind of dry actually. I got their special turkey sandwich...also dry... the chips were ok... i think i'd rather eat utz potato chips tho.. or some kind of other kettle chips. on the other hand... the tomato soup was pretty good. bottom line: drive a mile or two from the hotel for some great cheaper alternatives (See review for Lulu)

We ate here for breakfast each day of our stay as part of our hotel package. Very friendly staff...thank you to Karen H. and Antonio. Nice selection that pleased everyone. We asked for turkey bacon or sausage and they made special orders. Pancakes could be a bit better (got hard under the buffet lights). Made to order waffles were very good.

We are big Ritz fans, and certainly prefer Ritz accommodations and dining when available. ...that being said, I was not completely overwhelmed with culinary pleasure during my recent lunch at Cafe 4750. Both the salmon and crab sandwiches were a little bread-heavy. The shrimp appetizer was wonderful! The wine selection was also quite impressive. I can see raving more about the restaurant as a recharging station after a day at the beach.

Middle of the road. The food is very good but the poor service overshadows the experience. We asked the hostess for a quiet table in the corner, the restaurant was empty and she sat the next customers next to us! The hostess stood at the front entrance coughing and sneezing the entire time. Where is the leadership?

We had multiple meals at Cafe 4750 as we stayed five days at the Ritz Amelia Island, and frankly the biggest issue to staying at this Ritz for that long is Cafe 4750. First, you generally have to have breakfast at Cafe 4750, which is generally nice, albeit exactly the same stuff as on the room service menu. It's the same facilities for delivery, even the same lady answered my room service call as we then saw for lunch. Breakfast is good. The problem is that we also had dinner at the Cafe, and after reflection I'm giving the Cafe only two stars. I had their pork the first night, and the cut was terrible, but that was in my prior review. Jim was so solid that our experience was still good. The issue was really the next night. and I'm not going to go into the meal as I covered that before. Instead I'm simply going to say that I'm disappointed in the Ritz policy. Yes, I know the Ritz is considered an expensive, perhaps even "Ritzy" destination, but they shouldn't just fleece their customers: $45 PER bottle. I keep a cellar with over 2,000 bottles, most of which I've bought and aged. I travel 50-70 nights a year and eat out over 700 meals each year. My point is that I eat out a lot, and I eat out a lot with wine, and I eat out a lot with wine in different cities all over the world. I have only seen $45 per bottle....well NEVER! The Ritz corkage policy is so offensive that we DID NOT EAT at the resort our third night. Moreover, I would seriously question returning to the Ritz Amelia Island because of the arrogance in setting such a high corkage rate, and especially setting such a high corkage rate in a fair run-of-the-mill hotel restaurant. My bill for my suite and all the activities for four nights was over $4,000, but I'm unlikely to return to the Ritz Amelia Island because I feel that their corkage is so offensive. Moreover, the rate is so offensive that it damages my relationship with the Ritz brand in general. Given that I stayed for two weeks in various Ritz properties last year, this is a foolish decision on their part. Next time I'm in Dana Point, I'll skip Laguna Nigel and do the Montage. Next time I'm in Amelia Island, I will go to the Plantation. Here in Atlanta, where my Firm puts people up at the Ritz who travel to see us, we will move our business to the St. Regis or the Mandarin. There's your $45.

This place has very good dinner. The server Tom we had was very friendly and funny. The food was awesome!! The breakfast is way overpriced but I guess that's what you get when you stay at a Ritz.

  • Jenn S.

Service is not at all pretentious and big plus was the great food. we had breakfast and lunch there almost every day. During our stay it was restaurant week so we had a 3 course lunch and occasional dinner for 19.95! SCORE!

We did the Christmas buffet. It was good but nothing was memorable. If you want a really nice dining experience in this area David's is superior in every way. The Ritz is well -The Ritz. Everything is nicely done but you're paying exceptional prices for that service. You can get better food and better service at lower prices in this area. Fernandino Beach is foodie heaven. The competition here is brutal.

My first meal at Cafe 4750 was via room service while spending my honeymoon at the Ritz Carlton. It was some of the best room service I have ever had. I feasted on French toast with a side of bacon; they even asked how I wanted the bacon served! My new husband ordered the Southern breakfast which came with a little bit of everything you could possibly want, including tasso cheese grits. Actually venturing out of our room the next day for the first time we decided to actually dine at 4750 and pretend to be part of the real world. While a few things on the menu struck my fancy, we both went for the Southern breakfast; this time buffet style. If half stars were possible, I would probably give 4750 three & a half stars; they were saved by the room service from the day before. My recommendation would be to stick to the menu, forgo the buffet. I should have known from the experience I've had with buffets in the past, but I was enraptured in the haze of biscuits & gravy.

Had breakfast here on several occasions during our stay. Buffet seems pricey but I guess normal for the Ritz. The sticky buns were delicious! Orange juice rocks! Service was good, but one time we had a crabby waitress.

  • Paula M.

It's the ritz so service, as expected, is absolutely five star. But it's pretty pricey for what it is and the food isn't anything to get excited about. It was our only real option during the day, since everything else was closed, so we ate here several times and had pretty much everything on the breakfast and lunch menu. Nothing stands out as particularly good or bad. If you are staying at the ritz it's convenient--but otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Dinner at café 4750 was far above expectations. Being the little sister of SALT the 5 diamond grille at The Ritz-Carlton I was expecting it to be the dinner spot for the masses. My party of 6 entered at 8pm and was promptly seated. We all gathered round the table where our hostess came with water and menus and our server shortly behind. After some brief pleasantries we ordered a bottle of wine from their very reasonable wine list. This list was priced for anyone to enjoy wine and not just the typical guests of The Ritz-Carlton. The table ordered several appetizers, a bruschetta, tomato mozzarella salad and a steamed mussels pot. When all the entrees came out we began devouring them right away. The Mussels, a huge 1 lb portion of Prince Edward mussels, were served in a cast iron mini-Dutch oven with toasted breads and mayo sauce. I've written about these in the past, the dish out does Bistro AIX's version but falls sort on the sheer size of the shellfish from Central in D.C.. A great order to be sure, and one to be shared by your table or enjoyed as a main for just yourself. You'll find shavings of what I believe to be fennel in the juice that adds a welcome if not expected anise hint to the broth. Other members of the table who ordered the bruschetta commented on how fantastic the bread, dressing and accompaniments were but the lack luster quality of the tomatoes stood out vs what proved to be a pleasantly surprising dish. Fix those tomatoes, perhaps let them macerate for a few hours before plating with the rest of the dish and you'll have a winner. For our mains we again choose a different bottle of wine, and started round sharing dishes. I ordered a seared sea bass, the rest of the table ordered a shrimp alfredo, and a pesto ravioli. Starting on the low end, the shrimp alfredo was very good. Better then you would find at any except the most serious Italian restaurants. The portions (we got the small) was enough to leave one person full. Mind you, the traditional Italian places are going to have so much pasta on a plate that I will feed you for three days. If you want that try getting the main order and not a small one. Large plump shrimp topped off this dish, nontraditional yes, but oh so yummy. I'll skip the ravioli because I didn't try it, and move to my bass. This was the highpoint of the meal for me. It was perfectly seared, crispy exterior with a flakey cheese like interior. The fish was served on top baby squash and carrots in a light lemon cream sauce. I have got to say this would not be out of place in SALT. I give Café 4750 4 stars. The food and service was everything I wanted from a nice diner and I came away happy and full. My only issues were the loudness of the café, but that is perhaps a comment on the guests and not the food or service itself. If you are on the island and are looking for a great place to have lunch or dinner don't skip this option.

This place has very good dinner. The server Tom we had was very friendly and funny. The food was awesome!! The breakfast is way overpriced but I guess that's what you get when you stay at a Ritz.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
